Tank games have been around since the eighties but its first releases left room for much improvement. The computer technology did not disappoint avid gamers and made a lot of changes to give you a better appreciation of pc games. That is not to say though that these games’ predecessors are not any good. On the contrary, the classics serve as basis and inspiration for game designers wanting to release something new and yet have the same feel of the previous versions. Here are some examples of classics and a little of the modern times.
1. Battle City – this classic tank game makes use of arrow keys to control your tank and the F key for firing. Your goal is to fire at enemy tanks, collect upgrades, and protect your home base while trying to stay alive.
2. Tank – your mission is dependent on each level but mainly your task is to destroy enemy tanks in your way to reach the checkpoint. With a number of lives, you need to plan your attack wisely to keep from losing and reach the end point.
3. Tank Game – Shoot to annihilate your (computer controlled) enemy. You can choose your weapons and upgrades after clearing each level. Play on different terrains and take into account factors like wind speed to reach your goal in this tank game.
4. City Under Siege – The layout looks like that of ‘Tank’ but with sharper graphics and effects. Your primary goal is to defend your headquarters by shooting enemy tanks trying to make their way to your territory.
5. Crusader Tank – Your objective is to reach the end of the level by demolishing enemy tanks in your way. Upgrades and health packs are available throughout the game so use them wisely. Arrow keys are used to control movement, while clicking on the mouse fires a shot in this tank game.
With the improved graphics and missions, tank games are gaining even more popularity especially among the youth of today while older fans renew their interest with vigor with the improvements made.
